Best Masonry Building Industrial Award
1994 I.C.M.A., State of Indiana

In Indiana, “Curley Means Brick!” is
more than a slogan. Curley Masonry celebrates 25 years of masonry products for
northwest Indiana’s building industry in the new millennium. Brick runs
deep in the blood of the Curleys. John Curley, whose father began in the brick
business in 1946, is the founder of Curley Masonry Supply.

Today, three brothers operate brickyards in downstate Indiana, including
Indy’s newest brickyard, Curley Bros. Brick.

Curley Masonry Supply in Chesterton was founded on ambition and
service-oriented salesmanship. John left a family-owned business in central
Indiana in the mid-1970s to move to northwest Indiana. With wife, Janet,
teaching in northwest Indiana and John selling masonry materials in the Chicago
area, it became the ideal location for the couple.

“In 1976, we started our own masonry business and now distribute brick
for six major suppliers with multiple plants,” John Curley says.
“Our primary customers are residential, commercial, and industrial
builders within a 50-mile radius of Chesterton, so Chesterton is a central
location for us. It is also the center of activity in the Valparaiso, Lake
County, LaPorte, South Bend, and southern Michigan areas.”

Curley’s philosophy maintains that superior services are just as
important as superior products in attracting new customers and keeping current
customers happy. That is why John has invested in state-of-the-art delivery
equipment. “We’re the first company in northwest Indiana to sell
our boom trucks and go exclusively with all-wheel drive brick fork
trucks,” he says. “These new all-terrain vehicles allow us to send
semis straight to building sites from the brickyard.”
